Donate your car

Charities are in need of your help. You can help them raise money by donating your car today. Some of the benefits of donating a car: 1. You may be eligible for a tax write off 2. When you donate a car to charity the non-profit organization takes your car and sells it or uses it for scrap materials. 3. Help get old and environmentally hazardous vehicles off the road while raising money for charities

Even if your car doesn't work charities may still accept it for donation.

"How do I get my car to the charity?"

Many charities will tow your vehicle once you have chosen to donate your car.

"Is my car eligible?"

If it's a car and it can be towed, then it's probably eligible.

"Can I get a tax deduction?"

In order to qualify for a tax deduction the organization that receives your donation must be a  501(c)(3) organization. In some cases, the car must be sold or auctioned off before you are eligible for a write off, and for the amount of the revenue produced by the sale. This isn't always necessary.

Case in point: Recently a friend of mine donated his used truck to the American Lung Association. The truck had more than 200,000 miles on it and wasn't operable. They sent a tow truck to pick it up and gave him a few hundred dollars worth of tax deductions - worth more than the value of the truck itself! They gave him a receipt that was accepted on his taxes as a valid write off.

Charities depend on your donation. Donate your used car today.
